How do I care for my suede heels?
Is suede a fragile and difficult- to-maintain leather? It's a myth! But you need to know how to care for it. Suede, over time, wears down and becomes unkempt. The solution to this problem is suede renewal sprays .
It is a spray that is applied directly to the suede, smoothing out the uneven areas and restoring the shoe's uniformity.
Its application consists of three phases:
-
Preparation: Some renewing sprays contain dye, and therefore stain. It's important to prepare the area where it will be used with newspaper or similar material to avoid staining. At this stage, if the suede is extremely disheveled in some areas of the shoe, you could use a suede brush to comb it before applying it.
-
Application: The spray should be applied from a distance, approximately 25-30 cm from the shoe. Never closer than 20 cm, allowing the product particles to gently fall onto the shoe. If applied too close, you risk ruining the suede beyond repair.
It is important to apply the spray evenly to all corners of the shoe, so that the finish is uniform.
-
Drying: After applying the spray, let it sit for approximately 10 minutes, after which the shoe will be renewed and ready for use.
Suede Waterproofing Spray : The second type of Saphir suede spray is the suede waterproofing spray. This spray doesn't renew the suede, but rather protects the shoe from external threats such as rain or liquid spills. It can be used on both new and used suede shoes. Its application has the same characteristics as a renewing spray.
Suede Brush : Silicone brush designed by Saphir specifically for use on suede. The silicone brush helps comb through unkempt suede without tearing it. Overuse can wear down the color, so it's important to use it before applying the renewing spray, never after.
Suede Eraser : It performs the same function as the suede brush, but is more corrosive. It is used to try to remove deeply embedded stains from the fabric prior to applying a renewing spray.
